Experts Urge Students To Shun Screen Addiction, Embrace Sports At GVEI Event

Srinagar, Aug 22:Green Valley Educational Institute (GVEI) Elahi Bagh Srinagar on Saturday hosted a wellness awareness programme under the theme “Stay Fit, Stay Healthy”.

The programme was organized as part of a community wellness campaign conceptualized by Sports Functional Medicine and Musculoskeletal Expert Dr. Mir Ishfaq Hussain.

Eminent speakers from medical, administration, engineering and media fields delivered lectures and interacted with hundreds of students, stressing physical wellness, sports discipline and need to come out of excessive screen addiction.

Noted Endocrinologist and former HoD SKIMS Prof. (Dr.) Shariq R. Masoodi gave a detailed presentation on medical fundamentals of regular movement and metabolic fitness.

Leading Pulmonologist and HoD Pulmonary Medicine GMC Srinagar Prof. (Dr.) Naveed Nazir Shah highlighted synergy between cardiovascular health and mental vitality.

Senior IPS officer and SSP Traffic City Srinagar Mr. Aijaz Ahmad Bhat cautioned students against excessive screen time and urged them to adopt outdoor routines.

Er. Farhan Manzoor Shah, Assistant Executive Engineer KPDCL and Additional Secretary NIT Srinagar Alumni Association shared his personal journey and said athletics has emerged as a prestigious career choice that youth should explore.

Renowned broadcaster Azhar Hajini urged every student to dedicate themselves to at least one sport and take full advantage of physical education periods. He commended J&K Govt initiatives engaging lakhs of youth in sports activities.

Vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Mir Ishfaq Hussain who thanked school management for providing platform to mentor young generation.

The event was also graced by noted ophthalmologist Dr. Sajad Quanango, entrepreneur Shoukat Hussain, Principal and senior faculty members.

Chairman GVEI Mohammad Yousf thanked visiting dignitaries and reaffirmed school’s commitment to organize such student-centric wellness programmes in future.(GNS)
