Srinagar, July 14: The Department of Social Welfare, Bandipora, through the SANKALP Hub for Empowerment of Women (HEW) under Mission Shakti, received two appreciation awards at the SMARTPUR – Impact & Insights 2026 Annual Showcasing Event held at Gandhi Bhawan, University of Kashmir.
The event, organised by REACHA with the support of Nokia in collaboration with the University of Kashmir, brought together representatives from government departments, academic institutions, banking organisations, development partners and community groups to review initiatives promoting digital inclusion, education, livelihood development, financial inclusion, governance and community empowerment across Jammu and Kashmir.
The awards were presented to District Mission Coordinator Tahira Tabasum and Gender Specialist Sumaiya Muzaffar in recognition of their teams’ work in advancing women’s empowerment, promoting gender equality, conducting community outreach and awareness programmes, and implementing Mission Shakti initiatives through convergence with various stakeholders and REACHA.
According to the department, the recognition reflects its ongoing efforts to improve access to government services, opportunities and support systems for women and girls, particularly those from rural and vulnerable communities.
The Department of Social Welfare, Bandipora, expressed gratitude to REACHA, Nokia and the University of Kashmir for the recognition and reiterated its commitment to strengthening collaboration with partner organisations to promote inclusive and sustainable development across the district.
