Srinagar, September 03: The BJP on Tuesday clarified that the individual seen allegedly molesting a woman during a protest at Hari Singh High Street in Srinagar is not associated with the party.
In a statement, BJP J&K State Co-media Incharge Advocate Sajid Yousuf Shah said the party had cross-checked the information with multiple sources and found that the man seen in the viral video was neither a BJP member nor associated with the organisation.
Shah said large public gatherings often witness the participation of unidentified and unaffiliated individuals, whose actions cannot automatically be attributed to the organisers or the BJP.
He said efforts were underway to identify the individual involved as well as the portals that allegedly revealed the woman’s identity by showing her face. He urged that appropriate legal action be taken once those responsible are identified.
The BJP strongly condemned the alleged molestation and appealed to people to refrain from circulating unverified information or falsely attributing the actions of an individual to the party.
