Bikaner, July 18: Two siblings from Bikaner in Rajasthan have qualified the NEET-UG 2026 examination in their first attempt while dealing with a family health crisis and challenging living conditions, bringing them closer to securing admission to government medical colleges.

Noorul Hassan and his sister Samiya Khatoon achieved the feat despite their father suffering from kidney failure and their mother donating one of her kidneys to save him. Alongside their studies, the siblings also assisted in caring for their parents during the treatment and recovery period.

The family lives in a single-room house in a congested locality of old Bikaner, where the siblings prepared for the highly competitive medical entrance examination amid limited space and frequent noise and disturbances.

Noorul Hassan scored 609 out of 720 marks, securing a 99.6196300 percentile and an All India Rank of 7,596. Samiya scored 568 out of 720, achieving a 98.76 percentile and an All India Rank of 24,790. Both qualified the examination in their first attempt.

Speaking after the results, the siblings said they remained focused on their goal of pursuing medicine despite the personal challenges they faced.

“We thank the Almighty for rewarding our hard work and patience. We are hopeful of getting government medical colleges in Rajasthan,” Noorul and Samiya said.

The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) is one of India’s most competitive entrance examinations for undergraduate medical courses, with lakhs of students appearing each year for limited seats in government and private institutions.

The siblings said their experience taught them the importance of perseverance, discipline and maintaining focus on long-term goals even during difficult circumstances. Their success has drawn attention locally, with residents and well-wishers congratulating the family on the achievement.
