Bandipora, September 10: Bandipora Police on Thursday organised Thana Diwas at police stations across the district to hear public grievances and discuss issues concerning local communities.
The main programme was held at Police Station Pethkote and was chaired by SSP Bandipora Ajaz Ahmad Zargar-JKPS in the presence of the station house officer and other police officers.
Members of civil society and representatives of various sections of the community, including Auqaf committees, Numberdars, Chowkidars, traders, transporters and other local stakeholders, participated in the interaction.
Participants raised various issues concerning their areas and apprised the SSP and other officers of their grievances. The issues were examined according to their nature, jurisdiction and the department concerned.
Police officials assured the participants that genuine grievances falling within the Police Department’s jurisdiction would be taken up on priority. Issues related to the Civil Administration would be forwarded to the concerned departments for appropriate action, police said.
During the interaction, the SSP also sought public cooperation in preventing drug abuse, social crimes and other social problems.
Similar Thana Diwas programmes were held at other police stations across Bandipora district under the supervision of the respective supervisory and jurisdictional police officers.
The initiative is part of Bandipora Police’s public outreach efforts aimed at facilitating direct interaction between police officials and residents and addressing issues raised by local communities.
