Bandipora Intensifies Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign Across Schools

Bandipora, April 24: Continuing the 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, the District Administration Bandipora on Friday carried forward an intensified awareness campaign across multiple educational institutions, with a special focus on strengthening parent-student engagement and community participation to combat substance abuse.

At GHSS Gadakhud, Sonawari, a purpose-driven Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) was convened, focusing on sensitising parents about early warning signs of substance abuse, preventive strategies, and their crucial role in fostering a vigilant and value-based home environment. The session witnessed constructive dialogue, reinforcing the home-school partnership and a shared commitment towards safeguarding youth.

Similar Parent-Teacher interactions were organised at PM SHRI HSS Shadipora, HS Ketson, and other institutions, where discussions centred on students’ academic progress, behavioural development, and the importance of parental guidance in ensuring a drug-free lifestyle.

Awareness activities were also conducted at PM SHRI GHS Odina, where a PTM focusing on parent awareness was held alongside a debate competition on drug abuse. Students and parents actively participated, highlighting the harmful effects of substance abuse and emphasising collective responsibility in shaping a healthier future.

At High School Achoora and HSS PTL Gurez, peer awareness talks formed a key component of the day’s activities. Students actively led sessions, including a talk on “How Drugs Destroy Future,” which effectively conveyed the long-term consequences of substance abuse. Similar awareness initiatives were carried out at HS Jurniyal and other institutions.

In addition, GDC Gurez, in collaboration with the Police Department, organised a quiz competition and awareness lecture under NMBA, promoting knowledge-based engagement among youth. A cleanliness drive was also conducted in coordination with the NSS unit to instil a sense of responsibility and community participation.

Pledge-taking ceremonies, reaffirmed the commitment of students and staff towards building a drug-free society.

The programmes witnessed active participation from students, teachers, parents, and community members, reflecting a unified and determined approach towards eradicating drug abuse.
