Convener News Desk

BANDIPORA, AUGUST 12: In connection with the Independence Day Celebrations-2026 at Government Higher Secondary School, Nadihal, Bandipora, the District Magistrate, Bandipora, has ordered temporary traffic diversion and regulation arrangements for August 13, 2026 (Full Dress Rehearsal) and August 15, 2026 (Independence Day function).

The order states that the ground at S.K. Sports Stadium, Bandipora, is presently under repair and earth-filling work is in progress, rendering the venue unsuitable for holding the Full Dress Rehearsal and the main function of Independence Day Celebrations-2026. Accordingly, the playground of Government Higher Secondary School, Nadihal, has been selected as the venue for the Full Dress Rehearsal and the main Independence Day function.

As the selected venue does not have adequate parking space within the venue ground or in a radius of approximately one kilometre, and considerable movement of vehicles carrying participating officers/personnel of Security Forces, students, invitees and the general public is expected in and around the venue, appropriate measures have been ordered for regulation of traffic, management of the area and provision of suitable parking arrangements.

Under the traffic arrangements, down traffic moving from Bandipora towards Srinagar shall be diverted from Papchan through Gamroo Road and thereafter via Nadihal Main Market. Up-traffic moving from Srinagar towards Bandipora shall continue to ply through the normal route, i.e. Vijhara Bridge.

No vehicle shall be allowed to park or stop unnecessarily on the regulated road stretch near the function venue to ensure unobstructed movement of traffic. Ambulances, fire tenders and other emergency vehicles shall be provided free and unobstructed passage at all times.

The traffic diversion and regulation shall remain in force only for the period considered necessary by the Traffic Police on August 13, 2026 and August 15, 2026, and normal traffic movement shall be restored thereafter.
