New Delhi, June 30: Chief of Army Staff Gen Upendra Dwivedi has awarded the COAS Commendation Medal to Sheikh Aadil, ADC to the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, for his distinguished service in the Union Territory.

An official told Kashmir Convener, the Jammu and Kashmir Police Service officer received the honour for his “exemplary dedication” to duty, with the citation highlighting his contribution to facilitating seamless coordination between the civil administration and the military establishment in the strategically sensitive region.

The formal investiture took place in the presence of senior military officials and UT administration representatives.

Sources said Gen Dwivedi lauded Sheikh Aadil’s professionalism, stating that such recognitions underscore the importance of civil-military synergy in border areas.

This is the first time an ADC to the Ladakh LG has received the Army Chief’s commendation, officials said.

The medal is awarded annually for exceptional service, with recipients selected across the armed forces and allied organisations.

The development comes at a time when Ladakh remains a focus area for infrastructure development and border management, with the Army and civil administration working in close coordination to address the region’s unique challenges.

Notably, earlier this year, Sheikh Aadil (JKPS) was felicitated by the then hon’ble LG of Ladakh for his impeccable command of the parade, braving inclement temperatures at the country’s highest Republic Day parade venue.
