HKM College organises awareness programme for first-time voters
Bandipora, March 05: The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Hassan Khoyihami Memorial (HKM) Degree College Bandipora conducted an awareness program on Tuesday regarding electoral participation and importance of voting.
An official spokesperson said the programme was part of the SVEEP Flagship initiative, aiming to enlighten participants about the significance of voting and active electoral participation in a democracy.
The event featured a brief but insightful speech by the NSS Programme Officer, Dr. Irshad Ahmad Bhat, who highlighted the importance of civic duty and the role of each citizen in shaping the democratic process. In a symbolic gesture, students took a pledge to exercise their voting rights, emphasizing their commitment to contributing to the democratic foundation.
As part of the program, the organizers screened a short film titled "My Vote My Duty" to provide a deeper understanding of the electoral process.
Additionally, the “Power of 18 Anthem” and "Main Bharat Hoon-Hum Bharat Ke Matdata Hain" were showcased, enhancing student awareness about elections and encouraging a sense of responsibility towards democratic principles.
The NSS Unit of HKM GDC Bandipora remains dedicated to fostering a sense of civic responsibility among students, ensuring they are well informed and actively engaged in the democratic process.
