Bandipora, Feb 09: The residents of Sumbal north Kashmir's Bandipora district are facing challenges in accessing medicine after authorities sealed the only medical shops in the area for violating rules by selling drugs without prescriptions earlier this week.
According to Ahmad Reshi, president of the Traders Federation in Sumbal, there is only one medical shop in the area, which has been recently sealed.
This closure forces residents to travel several kilometres to purchase medicines, causing inconvenience. Local resident Farooq Ahmad shared his experience of travelling 5 kilometres to buy medicine for his wife's toothache.
Authorities in Bandipora have recently seized eight medical shops in Sumbal for similar violations.
Local residents have appealed to the District Administration of Bandipora to intervene in the matter to alleviate the difficulties faced by patients in getting medicine.
