DDAC organises awareness program against drug abuse
Bandipora, Feb 03: The District Drug De-Addiction Centre (DDAC) in Bandipora organised an awareness program at the ICDS Centre Kema of Aloosa Block to address the issue of drug abuse.
Conducted under the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR), the event aimed to educate frontline workers, including ICDS, ASHAA, and PRIs.
The initiative, led by DDAC Bandipora, collaborated with District Administration Bandipora, Department of Social Welfare, Bandipora, and Implementing Agency JKSWM. The program followed the directives of Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr. Shakeel ul Rehman Rather, and was supervised by District Social Welfare Officer Bandipora, Hidaitullah Mir.
The day-long program saw a substantial turnout of frontline workers, who received information about the services at District Drug De-Addiction Centre Bandipora through distributed posters and pamphlets. The event also highlighted the adverse effects of drug abuse to raise awareness.
Under the leadership of Ms. Rehana Akhter, Manager DDAC Bandipora, speakers discussed the impacts of drug abuse. Adv Mudasir Wani, Counsellor, DDAC, provided an overview of signs and symptoms, emphasising immediate redressal and mentioning the free-of-cost services offered by DDAC. Jawahar Ahmad, ORW, DDAC, stressed the need for collaborative efforts to address drug abuse, highlighting the role of individuals and society.
Farhat Zahoor, YT, DDAC, added a holistic perspective, emphasizing the significance of meditation and exercises in reducing stress and depression. The program received commendation from participants.
