R’ Day: Poonch remembers Commando Majid Hussain, hail his bravery

Jammu, Jan 26: While the country celebrated 75th Republic Day, the Indian Army and residents of Poonch celebrated the day by remembering the sacrifice of Son of the Soil- a brave commando-Havildar Majid Hussain who was killed in an anti-terror operation in Rajouri in December last year.

In a heartfelt tribute to the valour of Havildar Majid Hussain, the Indian Army celebrated his determined commitment to defending his homeland. “Havildar Majid Hussain, who stood as a formidable force against terror in the challenging terrains of Poonch and Rajouri, made the supreme sacrifice in the pursuit of peace,” Defence Spokesperson said in Jammu.

According to PRO Defence, Representatives from the GOC 25 Inf Division, conveying the sentiments of GOC-in-C, Northern Command, and GOC 16 Corps, walked upto the home of the martyr in Ajote village and expressed deep gratitude to Havildar Majid Hussain's family. 

Seniors and colleagues visited the Braveheart's family to bestow the spirit of care for their fallen brother. “The awarding of the Kirti Chakra stands as a symbol of conspicuous bravery, honouring Havildar Majid Hussain's selfless sacrifice,” officers said. 

Spokesperson said the entire population of UT of J&K, particularly Poonch and Rajouri, stands indebted to this courageous commando. “His actions, extending beyond a singular moment, serve as an everlasting inspiration for future generations”.

Havildar Majid Hussain, hailed as the Hero of Poonch, leaves behind a legacy of selflessness and dedication. His story will echo in the hearts of his hometown and across the nation, with the gallantry award serving as a poignant symbol of honour and a reminder of sacrifices made in the unwavering pursuit of peace and security.
