Bandipora, June 02: Vice Chairperson DDC Kousar Shafiq Friday expressed profound grief and concern over the adverse effects of bad weather and irregular rainfall on crops, resulting in significant losses for farmers.
While talking to Kashmir Convener, Kousar urged the administration to provide compensation to the affected farmers.
The Vice Chairperson highlighted the devastating consequences of the unpredictable weather patterns, emphasizing the damage caused to crops, including grains, fruits, and vegetables.
She stated that the irregular rain had led to a decrease in crop yields, affecting the livelihoods of countless farmers residing Kehnoosa, Aloosa, Quil, Muqam, Mangnipora, Patushay, Qazipora and Watapora villages who heavily rely on their agricultural produce for sustenance and income.
She assured the farmers that she will raise the issue in all relevant forums to compensate their losses "Farmers have suffered immense losses due to damaged crops, leading to a decline in their financial stability. It is our responsibility as a government to support them in their time of need."
The Vice Chairperson called on the government to swiftly initiate measures to assist the affected farmers, emphasizing the importance of providing compensation to help them recover from their losses.
She stressed that such support would not only alleviate the financial burden on farmers but also contribute to maintaining a stable agricultural sector.
