Bandipora Police arrests ‘chronic’ drug peddler from Malangam

Bandipora, May 12: Bandipora Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested a drug Peddler and recovered 2.8 Kgs of Charas Powder like contraband substance from his possession in Malangam area of Bandipora district.
An official said on a tip of information, a police party laid a Naka in Malangam area of Bandipora. "During Naka, a man was intercepted at Malangam-Quil road. On search, 2.8 Kgs of Charas Powder like contraband substance was recovered from his possession".
Officials identified the person as Ab Satar SeerGojer Son of Jumma SeerGojer Resident of Malangam Village of Aloosa Bandipora. Police has registered a case under FIR number 08/20 NDPS act and investigation was taken up.
It is Pertinent to mention that the same person was arrested last year with Charas powder and was booked.
An officer said that he will be booked under PIT NDPS also. He added that Infact all those having 2 or more FIR's under NDPS will be booked under PIT NDPS.
An officer said that special teams have been constituted in the district to curb drug menace. J&K Police is committed to eradicate the drug menace from the society, he said.
People are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers and help police in eradicating the menace of drugs.”
He appealed the local population to assist the police in its drive so as to make the Bandipora drug free.
Meanwhile Civil Society Bandipora have hailed the role of Bandipora Police for launching effective campaign against drug peddlers and sale of psychotropic substances.
