Srinagar, march 31: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has been named in the Indian Express’ ranking of the 100 most powerful Indians in 2023.
The majority of the people on the list are either election participants or individuals who have had a change in fortune.
Sinha is ranked 24th on the list of the most influential Indians. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister, Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, the Chief Justice of India, and scores of others are on the list, which also includes J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
Sinha was sent to J&K at a time when the Union Territory was experiencing massive changes, which the LG-led administration successfully handled and implemented. Being in J&K, let alone managing and running its affairs, is never simple; however, Sinha has done so flawlessly.
He is credited with bringing about several reforms in J&K, including the creation of a unified system for delivering public services, the introduction of e-governance initiatives, the promotion of good governance and transparency, the encouragement of inclusive development, and increased access for young people in the state to high-quality education.
Additionally, he has taken an active role in promoting tourism in J&K, which has boosted the region’s economy and opened up job possibilities. Several initiatives, including the building of road networks, and the enhancement of the power and water supply, have been attributed to him for helping to improve the state’s infrastructure.
More so, he has been effective in handling and managing the law and order situation in J&K while the terrorism has also been pushed to an imminent end. His administration has been able to show the youngsters the path which so far, till all these decades, remained blurred and literally absent at many instances.
Sinha has also played a significant role in improving the lives of many young people in J&K by promoting athletics in the state. Furthermore, he is also in charge of bringing about many social welfare programmes in the UT that assisted many people to live better lives. Things have become easy now.
Overall, LG Sinha has played a significant role in the growth of J&K and is credited with bringing about several reforms that have served to enhance the lives of many residents of the state. His devotion to the betterment of the UT and his hard work are examples of inspiration for the people of J&K.
Even though he is not a bureaucrat, the way he has managed the affairs over time in J&K is commendable and presents his administrative skills despite basically being a politician from Uttar Pradesh.
Under Sinha’s watch, the governance set-up has improved to an extent which was never expected. Apart from being the point person of the Government of India in J&K, Sinha has been able to bring about key changes and transformations in the UT since the day his tenure began here.
Over the years, it has become clear that LG, with a poet’s heart, means business and always carries along a no-nonsense attitude, which is bearing fruits in J&K. Under his watch, the administration has worked for the overhauling of the system, making it efficient and people friendly—for whatever Sinha has done, he deserves to be on the list of most powerful and impactful Indians.
It won’t be an exaggeration to state that Sinha has remained successful in changing the outlook as well as the system of the governance structure in J&K with ensuring the civil servants deliver, no matter what; the public grievances as addressed and prompt action is taken; and at the same time, his office remains accessible not only to the officers but the common citizens of J&K.
