Bandipora admin bans washing of vehicles on roads

Bandipora, August 09: Next time you wash your car on the road outside your house or office, watch out. The Bandipora administration has decided book such people on charges of damaging the road a public property under the Prevention of Damage to Property Act.
Taking strong note of washing vehicles of newly macdamized roads, the district administration Bandipora on monday launched a drive to penalize the owners if the vehicles found damaging the roads by washing vehicles.
The Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmed said that from now on, people found washing their vehicles on the road would be prosecuted in the court of law for damaging public property. "The roads are public property and the people have no right to damage them. People have no right to wash their vehicles on the roads. It results not only in wastage of precious water, the accumulation also damages the roads. Those found guilty of washing cars on the road would be booked under the Prevention of Damage to Property Act," the DC said.
Taking serious note of the complaints, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora directed the concerned officers to take action against the people found involved in damaging roads.
DC Bandipora has appealed people not to damage the roads by washing vehicles on roads. "Macdamization started on various roads in Bandipora but people need to understand not to damage by washing cars on road".
