Cow dung, garbage dumped on roadsides paints grim picture of Bandipora district

Bandipora, May 16: At a time when general public is scared about the deadliest COVID-19, the authorities has failed to clean the roads, lanes and by lanes of Bandipora where the cow dung and other garbage are being dumped, due to which there are high chances that some other diseases may spread.

People in several areas of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district have polluted the roads by dumping heaps of garbage and cow dung on road sides. Locals of said areas have appealed authorities to identify the people and take action as per law against them.

They said that garbage has piled up and even cow dung can be seen smeared on the roads as the local municipal committee authorities have failed to maintain and upkeep cleanliness of these roads in the town.

They said that similar scenes can be witnessed on Srinagar-Bandipora and Sopora-Bandipora roads as well because of the callous attitude of the local administration towards cleanliness of the roads.

The locals said tha we brought this issue into the notice of concerned department several times, but no action was taken till date.
According to locals of these areas, many households are putting heaps of garbage and other waste material on roadside posing threat to community amid COVID-19 pandemic. Residents of Nathpora, Kaloosa, Gamroo, Garoora and adjacents have appealed to District Adminstration Bandipora to take strict action against those households.

An officer said that strict action will be taken against those who dump garbage and cowdung along roadside in the district. Locals appealed the district development commissioner Bandipora, to personally look into the matter and help resolve this problem at the earliest.
