Bandipora, November 04: Soon after the story carried by Kashmir Convener titled "Cow dung, Garbage dumped along roadsides paint grim picture of Bandipora villages" district admistration swung into action and removed the cowdung and garbage from roadsides within 15 hours and fined the violators.
An official of Municipal council said that they have fined about 4300 rupees from violaters who dumped cowdung on roadsides.
Kashmir Convener on 04 November published story that the residents and traders of Bandipora district alleged that administration has failed to remove garbage from roads particularly on Bandipora-Srinagar road.
They said that garbage was piled up and even cow dung can be seen smeared on the roads as the local municipal committee authorities have failed to maintain and upkeep cleanliness of these roads in the towns.
They said that similar scenes can be witnessed on Sopore-Bandipora road as well because of the callous attitude of the local administration towards cleanliness of the roads. “On either side of the road from Ashtangoo to Kaloosa and Safapora to Papchan heaps of garbage including cow dung is dumped by the residents on a daily basis, which emanates foul smell. It has made daily commuting on these roads very difficult, ” said a local resident, Irshad Ahmad.
Locals said that even bio-medical waste by few medical stores is dumped on the road sides in main market Bandipora as the administration has failed to act against them
