B’pora residents protest against frequent power cuts

Bandipora, March 18: Annoyed by the frequesn  power cuts,  residents of Bonakoot and adjoining  vvillage of Bandipora district Monday protested against Distrixt administration Bandioira for miserably failing to provide electricity. 

Protestors blocked Bandipora- Gurez road that resulted in massive traffic jams. 

Eyewitnesses  said that residents of Mantrigam, Bonakoot  assembled at Mantrigam chowk and staged protest against the district administration  accusing it of plunging the villages  into darkness. The protestors later blocked the Bandipora-Bonakoot road disrupting vehicular traffic for hours.

“the district administration especially JKPDD has deliberately plunged the areas into darkness. We are facing immense hardships due to erratic power supply,” the protesters said.

They accused the  authorities of acting as mute spectators. “We many times approached the district administration and concerned PDD authorities for restoration of power but they miserably failed,” they said.

“The unscheduled power cuts have made our lives miserable. If PDD does not restore round the clock power we will be forced to launch an agitation against the department,” they said.
