Manasbal, November 1: The Indian Army on Sunday inaugurated the Chinar Centre of Educational Excellence – Kashmir Super-30 (KS-30) at Manasbal in Ganderbal district, offering free residential coaching for NEET and JEE aspirants from Jammu and Kashmir.

The centre was jointly inaugurated by Ganderbal Deputy Commissioner Shreya Singhal and a parent of one of the selected students in the presence of senior Army officials, representatives of the training partner NIEDO, parents and students.

A total of 30 boys from different districts of J&K have been selected for the inaugural batch through a merit-based process. The programme is aimed at providing students from economically weaker families, particularly those from rural, remote, hilly and border areas, access to professional coaching and academic support.

The selection process included outreach to schools across Kashmir, a written examination at multiple centres, followed by aptitude assessment, psychological screening and personal interviews under Army supervision.

The centre has residential and academic facilities, including hostel accommodation, classrooms, a library-cum-computer laboratory, dining hall and other essential amenities. Students will receive coaching for NEET, JEE and allied competitive examinations, along with study material, regular assessments, mock tests, mentoring and counselling.

The programme will also provide free boarding, lodging, meals, study kits and bedding. Personality development, leadership and communication skills will form part of the students’ overall training.

Speaking at the inauguration, an Army representative said the initiative was aimed at nurturing the potential of young people in J&K by providing them with academic resources and guidance to pursue their career aspirations.

Deputy Commissioner Shreya Singhal appreciated the initiative and highlighted the importance of creating educational opportunities for talented students from economically weaker sections. She also assured the support of the civil administration.

Parents of the selected students expressed gratitude to the Army for providing their children an opportunity to access professional coaching and facilities that might otherwise have been beyond their financial means.

The initiative is being funded by Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (AVNL), a Ministry of Defence public sector undertaking, under its Corporate Social Responsibility programme. The Indian Army is facilitating the initiative and providing the campus, infrastructure, security and supervision, while NIEDO is the training partner responsible for academic delivery and day-to-day functioning.

Classes for the first batch for the 2026–27 academic year commenced on November 1.

The centre builds on the Army’s earlier Kashmir Super-30 Engineering and Medical programmes and Kashmir Super-50 initiative, which have supported students from the region in pursuing higher education and professional courses.
