Two day special Voter Enrolment Drive concludes across JK

Door-to-door outreach conducted; eligible voters can apply for inclusion in electoral rolls during continuous updation

Jammu, October 11: The two-day Special Intensive Voter Enrolment Drive concluded across Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, with election officials conducting outreach to facilitate voter registration, address grievances and raise awareness about electoral services.

Organised on October 10 and 11, the drive was held at polling stations across the Union Territory from 9 am to 5 pm on both days. Eligible citizens were assisted with voter enrolment, correction and updation of electoral particulars, and other registration-related queries.

The drive was conducted under the supervision of Chief Electoral Officer, J&K, Sanjeev Verma, with district election authorities coordinating arrangements. District Election Officers, Electoral Registration Officers, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers and other election functionaries oversaw the exercise, while Booth Level Officers assisted citizens at polling stations.

Electors received guidance on the use of Forms 6, 7 and 8, as well as digital services available through the Voter Helpline App. Officials also addressed public queries and shared contact details to facilitate communication regarding enrolment and electoral particulars.

Door-to-door outreach and field inspections formed part of the exercise to identify eligible voters and encourage them to register. The department also reiterated that eligible citizens, including young and first-time voters, can apply to the concerned Electoral Registration Officer for inclusion in the electoral roll under the continuous updation process.

Salam Din, JKAS, Deputy Director Information and Nodal Officer for SVEEP in the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, interacted with the media during the drive and highlighted the importance of voter awareness, accessible registration facilities and public participation in the electoral process.

The Election Department said it would continue efforts to make voter registration more accessible and inclusive and strengthen the accuracy and comprehensiveness of electoral rolls.
