Baramulla, October 6: The Chief Education Officer (CEO) Baramulla has initiated the installation of RO water purifiers in 29 government schools and CCTV cameras in five middle schools in the Wagoora-Kreeri constituency under the District Capex Budget 2026-27 and Constituency Development Scheme (CDS).

According to an official communication from the CEO’s office, the tendering process for both works has been completed through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal.

The RO water purifier project, estimated at Rs 18.71 lakh, has been allotted to M/s Sabs Enterprises. The 29 schools were finalised after reviewing an earlier recommendation of 31 schools made by MLA Irfan Hafiz Lone in September. Three schools—HSS Hygam, HS Tapper Waripora Bala and BHS Radaygam—were excluded as RO systems had already been installed there during 2025-26.

The installation of CCTV cameras in five middle schools has been allotted to M/s PC World at a cost of Rs 17.49 lakh. The schools were selected on the basis of highest student enrolment in the constituency.

The CEO’s office said specifications for the RO purifiers and CCTV cameras have been shared with the MLA, while the selected vendors have been asked to begin installation. The administration also said other works recommended under the CDS 2026-27 are under process and details would be communicated separately.

Welcoming the development, MLA Irfan Hafiz Lone said the facilities recommended in response to public demands were now being installed. He also highlighted the installation of smart boards and provision of benches in classrooms, while seeking action on other demands.

“I hope every effort will be made to redress the demands of other schools in this regard,” Lone said.
