Pampore, September 19: The Jal Shakti Department on Saturday inaugurated a Water Supply Scheme at Lelhar in Pampore constituency of Pulwama district under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), at an estimated cost of ₹543.22 lakh (₹5.43 crore).
The scheme was inaugurated by MLA Pampore and Chairman, Housing Committee, Jal Jeevan Mission, Retired Justice Hasnain Masoodi, in the presence of Superintending Engineer, Hydraulics Circle Shopian-Pulwama, Nazia Nazir, along with engineers and officials of the Jal Shakti Department.
Officials said the scheme is aimed at strengthening drinking water infrastructure in the area and ensuring a reliable and sustainable supply of potable water to local households.
During the programme, officials briefed Masoodi about the components of the scheme and the progress of other water supply projects being implemented in the area under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
Speaking on the occasion, Masoodi said providing safe and adequate drinking water to every household remains an important priority. He said the Jal Jeevan Mission could significantly improve the quality of life of people, particularly in rural and underserved areas, by strengthening water supply infrastructure.
He stressed the need for timely completion of ongoing JJM projects and adherence to quality standards during execution. He also called for regular monitoring and proper maintenance of completed schemes to ensure their long-term functionality.
Masoodi also reviewed the status of other water supply schemes in the area and sought details about the progress of ongoing works. He stressed close coordination among the concerned departments for their timely completion.
The inauguration marks another step towards strengthening drinking water infrastructure in Pulwama district and advancing the objectives of the Jal Jeevan Mission.
