20th Bandipora District Table Tennis Championship Concludes

Bandipora, September 19: The 20th Bandipora District Table Tennis Championship 2026 concluded at SK Stadium, Bandipora, on Friday, with Senior Superintendent of Police Bandipora Aijaz Ahmad Zargar attending the closing ceremony as the chief guest.

The championship was organised by the District Table Tennis Association Bandipora under the aegis of the J&K Table Tennis Association, in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council, under the “My Youth My Pride” initiative.

A total of 117 players participated in different age categories, providing a platform for young table tennis players from across the district to compete and gain exposure.

Er. Shahid Mir, Gauhar Afzal and Firoz Ahmed attended the ceremony as guests of honour.

The dignitaries interacted with the players and appreciated their dedication and discipline during the championship. They also encouraged the young athletes to continue working hard and pursue excellence in the sport.

In the girls’ Under-15 category, Sabreen emerged winner, while Muntasha secured the runner-up position. In the Under-17 category, Samreena won the title and Irtiqa finished runner-up. Madiha won the Under-19 category, with Mariya Rasheed as runner-up, while Umi Ruman emerged winner in the women’s category and Ayesha Zahoor finished runner-up.

In the boys’ categories, Sohaib Noor won the Under-15 title, with Ariz Mehraj as runner-up. Sohaib Noor also emerged winner in the Under-17 category, while Farhan Fayaz finished runner-up. Anees Fayaz won the Under-19 category, with Muhammad Zakir as runner-up. In the men’s category, Junaid Iqbal secured the title, while Sohib Rafiq finished runner-up.

Trophies and medals were presented to the winners and runners-up in all categories. Consolation medals and trophies were also presented to players in recognition of their performances during the championship.

Trophies and mementos were presented to participating schools for their contribution and support in promoting table tennis among school-going children.

The organisers expressed gratitude to the chief guest, guests of honour, J&K Table Tennis Association, J&K Sports Council, participating schools, coaches, parents, volunteers and others associated with the event.

The championship provided players with an opportunity to showcase their skills, gain competitive experience and compete for selection at higher levels.

The District Table Tennis Association Bandipora reiterated its commitment to promoting table tennis in the district and providing young players with greater opportunities and competitive exposure.
