10 Doctors Served Notices Over Alleged Unauthorised Absence in Gurez

Gurez, September 10: The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Gurez has sought explanations from 10 doctors after they were allegedly found absent from duty during a surprise inspection conducted by the SDM and Gurez MLA on Thursday.

According to an order issued by the SDM Gurez, the doctors, including two consultants and eight medical officers, were found “unauthorizedly absent” during the inspection.

The notice also states that the doctors had reportedly been habitually absent from their duties. The SDM said such absence amounted to alleged dereliction of duty and had caused inconvenience to patients and affected patient care.

The doctors have been directed to submit written explanations within two days explaining why disciplinary action under the relevant service rules should not be initiated against them for alleged unauthorised absence and dereliction of duty.

The notice was issued on September 10 under No. SDM/GZ/2026/826-40 and marked as urgent.

The doctors named in the notice are Dr Ab Hameed and Dr Syed Tufail, both consultants, and Medical Officers Dr Saleem Javid, Dr Bilal Ahmad, Dr Hilal Ahmad, Dr Amin Jagu, Dr Imtiyaz, Dr Farooq, Dr Iateef and Dr Tufail.

The order does not specify the health facility where the doctors were posted or provide details of the duration of their alleged absence.
