Bandipora, September 8: Government Degree College (GDC) Hajin on Tuesday hosted the seventh episode of “Nun Chai Talks”, that was attended by its students and 37 students from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad for an interaction on education, careers, entrepreneurship and emerging opportunities.
Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Indu Kanwal Chib, Padma Shri awardee Prof Dr Anil Gupta and IIM Ahmedabad Professor Dr Navdeep attended the session and interacted with the students.
An official spokesperson informed that the IIM Ahmedabad students, who recently completed a five-day educational tour of Gurez Valley, also shared their experiences with the participants, including their interactions with local communities and observations during the visit.
Chib said the “Nun Chai Talks” initiative began during the 100-Day Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan campaign to provide young people with an informal platform to discuss issues related to their lives, aspirations, education, careers and personal development.
She said the initiative had since developed into a broader platform for dialogue and exchange among students, professionals, achievers and members of the community.
The session was subsequently opened for direct interaction between students of GDC Hajin and IIM Ahmedabad. The participants exchanged questions, ideas and experiences on setting goals, defining success, career-oriented courses, skill development, employment and job security.
Discussions also covered micro and macro enterprises, entrepreneurship, emerging opportunities, artificial intelligence and contemporary approaches to learning. Students shared their views on academic courses and career pathways and discussed ideas related to education and personal development.
The IIM Ahmedabad students spoke about their academic experiences and learning journeys, providing GDC Hajin students with an insight into higher education at a premier management institution and the career opportunities associated with it.
The Gurez tour also featured in the interaction, with the visiting students sharing their experiences of the region and their engagement with local residents.
Chib appreciated the participation of students from both institutions and encouraged them to use such platforms to exchange ideas, ask questions and learn from different experiences.
The seventh episode continued the initiative’s focus on creating opportunities for interaction between young people from different educational and social backgrounds.
