Srinagar, Sep 07: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo on Monday said International Film festival aims to reconnect the Union Territory with the world of cinema and re-establish it as a prominent film shooting destination.
“When we were inviting entries for screening in this film festival, we received an overwhelming response. There was a response from 80 countries, and more than 1,100 entries were received,” Atul said.
He informed that after careful screening and considering time constraints, 135 entries were shortlisted for screening, which include more than 60 foreign films.
“This is an opportunity to connect, in fact I would say reconnect J&K with the world of cinema and invite the film industry not only in India but abroad to Jammu and Kashmir to explore the culture, the cuisine, the heritage and make J&K once again a prominent film shooting destination,” the Chief Secretary added .
Atul Dulloo emphasized that the festival would create numerous opportunities for local youth in various aspects of filmmaking, including photography, direction, technical roles, acting, music, and lyric writing.
“This is a win-win situation for both cinema and J&K. We want to establish this connection once again and take it from strength to strength year after year,” he said.
The festival, supported by the J&K government and the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), features screenings, masterclasses, and panel discussions across venues in Srinagar, Jammu, and Gulmarg.
