Hajin, September 4: Bandipora Police on Thursday inaugurated a football tournament at the sports ground in Hajin under its civic action programme, with eight teams from different areas under the jurisdiction of Hajin Police Station participating in the event.
The tournament has been organised to promote sports and encourage young people to participate in constructive activities. Players from different areas of Hajin are taking part in the competition.
Speaking at the inauguration, SDPO Sumbal Mohammad Nawaz Khanday said the initiative aims to motivate students and highlight the role of sports in the overall development of young people.
He urged the participating teams to maintain discipline and teamwork and play in the true spirit of the game. He also advised the players to focus on regular practice and accept both victory and defeat in a sporting manner.
Khanday said players should learn from every match and use sports as a means to develop discipline, teamwork and a positive approach.
The police said the initiative is part of its civic action programme aimed at encouraging youth participation in sports and other constructive activities.
