New Delhi, August 14: REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited, has handed over Vizag Power Transmission Limited, the project-specific Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for an inter-State transmission project in Andhra Pradesh, to the successful bidder, Adani Energy Solutions Limited.
The SPV was handed over on August 14 following the completion of the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process conducted by RECPDCL, the Bid Process Coordinator, for the project titled “Transmission System for Proposed Green Hydrogen/Green Ammonia Projects in Vizag Area, Andhra Pradesh (Phase-I)”.
The project will be developed on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis and is aimed at strengthening transmission infrastructure to support emerging green hydrogen and green ammonia projects in the Vizag region.
The SPV was formally handed over by Rajkumar Sonkar, HoD (CS), RECPDCL, to Shashank Sharma, CBDO, Adani Energy Solutions Limited, in the presence of senior officials from RECPDCL, Adani Energy Solutions and Central Transmission Utility of India Limited.
The transmission system will include the establishment of a 4×1500 MVA, 765/400 kV Pendurthi GIS substation and a 3×1500 MVA, 765/400 kV Khammam-II substation, besides associated transmission lines.
The project envisages a 765 kV double-circuit line from Pendurthi to Srikakulam spanning about 226 km, Khammam-II to Warangal New covering 153 km, and Khammam-II to Pendurthi spanning 338 km. It will also include a 400 kV double-circuit line connecting Khammam-II with the existing Khammam substation over approximately 60 km, along with associated works.
The project is scheduled for completion within 30 months and has an estimated cost of ₹8,386 crore.
