Bandipora, Aug 8: The Indian Army stationed in Bandipora on Saturday organised a medical camp at Athwatoo in Bandipora in collaboration with the District Hospital and local doctors, providing healthcare services to 745 residents from Athwatoo and adjoining areas.
An official spokesperson said the camp offered comprehensive medical check-ups, consultations, essential medicines and health advice to residents.
Patients requiring further investigations and specialised treatment were identified and referred to higher medical centres.
Spokesperson said special attention was given to women’s healthcare, with a lady doctor available to enable women to seek consultation and discuss health concerns in a comfortable environment.
Several women were examined and provided medical advice and treatment.
An awareness session on personal hygiene, sanitation and prevention of common diseases was also conducted, educating residents about simple measures to maintain better health and prevent illnesses.
Hands on training was also provided to students regarding emergency healthcare including CPR.
Officials said the large turnout reflected the community’s response to the initiative. Local residents expressed gratitude to the Army for bringing essential healthcare services closer to their homes and requested that similar camps be organised regularly.
The Army said the initiative was part of its continued efforts to support the health and well-being of communities in Bandipora and strengthen its engagement with the local population.
