SHOPIAN, July 20: As part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, DySP Headquarters Shopian, Shri Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir (JKPS), participated as a resource person in the valedictory session of a three-day Capacity Building Programme on “Substance Abuse and Addiction Awareness” organized by the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Shopian.
Addressing the participating teachers from across the district, DySP Headquarters highlighted the growing menace of drug abuse and emphasized the crucial role of teachers, parents, and society in preventing substance abuse among youth. He sensitized the participants about the prevailing drug scenario, common methods adopted by drug peddlers to target vulnerable youth, legal provisions under the NDPS Act and the importance of timely reporting and community participation in combating the drug menace.
During the interactive session, practical case studies and preventive strategies were discussed, with special emphasis on early identification of vulnerable students, counselling, awareness generation and strengthening coordination between educational institutions, parents and law enforcement agencies.
The participants actively interacted with the speaker and appreciated the informative session, which reinforced the collective responsibility of society in achieving the objectives of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
