JKGLTF Urges Govt to Fill Vacant Principal, Headmaster Posts in Schools

Convener News Desk

Srinagar, July 3: The Jammu and Kashmir General Line Teachers Forum (JKGLTF) has urged Education Minister Sakina Masood Itoo to expedite the filling of vacant posts of Principals and Headmasters in government schools across the Union Territory, saying the shortage of institutional heads is affecting school administration and academic functioning.

In a statement, Gowher Ahmad Bhat, National Vice President of the Teachers Federation of India (TFI) and President of JKGLTF, along with Zahoor Ahmad Lone, General Secretary of the Forum, expressed concern over the large number of headless institutions in Jammu and Kashmir.

They said the absence of Principals and Headmasters has created serious administrative difficulties, particularly in the drawing and disbursal of salaries, as many schools lack Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs).

The situation, they said, is adversely affecting employees as well as the smooth functioning of educational institutions.
The Forum also called for the early promotion of eligible teachers to the posts of Masters and Lecturers and urged the government to expedite the promotion process at all levels.

JKGLTF further appealed to the authorities to convene the Departmental Promotion Committees (DPCs) for the posts of Headmasters, Lecturers, Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs) and Principals without further delay to strengthen school administration and improve educational standards across the Union Territory.

The Forum expressed hope that the Education Department would take prompt action to resolve these long-pending issues in the larger interest of students, teachers and government schools.
