Army Organises Veterans’ Rally in Tangdhar

Tangdhar, June 15: An Ex-Servicemen (ESM) Rally aimed at strengthening outreach, addressing grievances and creating awareness about welfare schemes for veterans and their families was organised in Tangdhar on Sunday under the aegis of Shakti Vijay Brigade.
The event brought together 154 Ex-Servicemen, four Veer Naris and 25 widows, who participated in interactions with representatives of various military and civil departments to discuss issues related to welfare, healthcare, pensions and other government services.
Officials from the Veterans Cell, Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAK LI) Record Office, Jammu and Kashmir Rifles (JAK RIF) Record Office, Civil Administration, Tehsil Office, District Social Welfare Office, Defence Pension Disbursing Office (DPDO), Forest Department, Police Department, Employment Department, State Bank of India, J&K Bank, Block Development Office and Zonal Education Office attended the programme.
During the rally, representatives interacted with attendees, addressed grievances and provided information on welfare schemes and services available to veterans, Veer Naris, widows and their dependents.
Participants were briefed on various welfare initiatives being undertaken for the veteran community, including Ex-Servicemen rallies, Veer Nari meets, ECHS clinical meets, artificial limb camps, outreach programmes for Veer Mata-Pita and the ongoing SPARSH data migration drive.
Officials also informed attendees about the empanelment of additional hospitals under the ECHS network in the Kashmir Valley, a move aimed at improving healthcare accessibility for veterans and their families.
The gathering was encouraged to make full use of available welfare benefits and to approach concerned agencies for timely redressal of grievances. Veterans were also urged to continue contributing to society by mentoring youth, promoting awareness against drug abuse and encouraging peace and social harmony.
As part of the programme, 25 widows, four Veer Naris and 10 meritorious students from Ex-Servicemen families were awarded scholarships in recognition of academic and extracurricular achievements. The scholarships were presented by Mrs. Sheela Yadav, wife of Brigadier Dharmendra Yadav, SM, Station Commander Tangdhar.
Five Ex-Servicemen who have made notable contributions to community development and nation-building were also felicitated during the event.
Addressing the gathering, Brigadier Dharmendra Yadav reaffirmed the Indian Army’s commitment to the welfare of Ex-Servicemen, Veer Naris and their dependents. He highlighted ongoing welfare initiatives and assured continued assistance in addressing issues faced by the veteran community.
