Sakeena Itoo inaugurates State-of-Art Laparoscopy Unit at SDH Magam; lays foundation for development projects

BUDGAM, JUNE 11: Minister for Health & Medical Education, School Education, Higher Education and Social Welfare, Sakeena Itoo, today inaugurated several key healthcare facilities besides laying foundation stones for education infrastructure projects in Budgam during her tour of Beerwah constituency in the district.

The Minister was accompanied by MLA Beerwah, Dr. Shafi Ahmad Wani, senior officers of the Health & Medical Education Department, School Education Department, Higher Education Department and district administration.

During the visit, the Minister inaugurated a state-of-the-art Laparoscopy Unit at Sub-District Hospital Magam, fulfilling a long-pending demand of the local population. The facility is expected to significantly enhance access to specialized surgical care and reduce the need for patients to travel outside the district for advanced medical procedures.

To further strengthen the healthcare services in the constituency, the Minister also inaugurated a Laparoscopy Unit at Sub-District Hospital Beerwah, which will provide affordable and minimally invasive surgical treatment to patients at the grassroots level.

The Minister laid the foundation stone for a dedicated Administrative Block at Government Degree College (GDC) Magam, aimed at improving the academic administration and expanding institutional infrastructure. She also laid the foundation stone for a modern Auditorium Hall at Government Degree College Beerwah, which will serve as a vital platform for academic, cultural and co-curricular activities of students.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment towards strengthening the school education infrastructure, the Minister laid the foundation stone for the new building of Government High School Rathsun in Beerwah, which will provide improved learning facilities and a conducive educational environment for the students.

Speaking on the occasion, Sakeena Itoo reiterated the government’s commitment towards equitable and balanced development across Jammu and Kashmir. She emphasized that healthcare and education remain the cornerstone sectors of public welfare. She assured that sustained efforts are being made to ensure that quality services and modern facilities reach every corner of the Union Territory.

The Minister stressed the importance of strengthening public institutions and creating robust infrastructure to meet the growing needs and aspirations of the people.

 MLA Beerwah, Dr. Shafi Ahmad Wani, expressed gratitude to the Minister for prioritizing key developmental projects in the constituency. He said that these initiatives would significantly benefit the local population and assured that all ongoing works would be closely monitored to ensure their timely completion.

During the visit, the Minister also interacted with the public delegations, representatives of civil society and youth groups, and took first-hand feedback regarding various public services and developmental issues. She directed the concerned officers to address public grievances and resolve local issues on priority to ensure efficient service delivery and improved governance.
