Bandipora, June 4: Doctors at District Hospital Bandipora on Thursday successfully performed its first-ever Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) surgical procedure, paving the way for specialized ENT surgical services at the hospital.
Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Bandipora, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad said a landmark surgery, Septoplasty procedure to correct a deviated nasal septum, was successfully conducted by ENT Specialist Dr. Raies Ahmad Beigh and his team.
He said the achievement marks a major step forward in enhancing the hospital’s capacity to provide advanced medical care within the district.
Septoplasty is a surgical procedure performed to correct a deviated nasal septum—the wall between the nasal passages—thereby improving airflow and breathing.
The procedure was assisted by Consultant Anaesthetist Dr. Iqbal Fateh and the operation theatre staff, whose coordinated efforts ensured the surgery was carried out smoothly while maintaining high standards of patient safety and care.
Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Bandipora, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, congratulated Dr. Raies, Dr. Iqbal Fateh and the entire surgical and theatre team on the successful achievement. He appreciated their dedication and professionalism, stating that the development represents an important milestone in strengthening specialized healthcare services at the district level.
“With the introduction of ENT surgical services, patients in Bandipora will no longer have to depend entirely on tertiary care hospitals outside the district for such procedures,” he added. The facility is expected to reduce referrals, save travel expenses and time for patients, and improve access to quality healthcare services closer to home.
Hospital authorities described the successful surgery as another significant addition to the institution’s growing range of specialized medical and surgical services. They noted that District Hospital Bandipora has recorded several landmark achievements in recent years as part of its continued efforts to improve healthcare facilities and provide advanced treatment options to the people of the district.
