Budgam Police Name Accused in Galwanpora Minor Murder Case After Legal Clearance

Budgam, May 26: Budgam Police on Monday disclosed the identity and particulars of the accused arrested in connection with the murder of a minor girl from Galwanpora village after completion of the necessary medico-legal, forensic and evidentiary procedures related to the investigation.

The case pertains to FIR No. 139/2026 registered at Police Station Budgam.

Police said the identity of the accused was withheld earlier as several crucial legal procedures were underway during the initial stage of investigation and to ensure that the evidentiary and legal process was not prejudiced.

Following completion of the required formalities, police identified the accused as Mudasir Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Nabi Mir, a resident of Galwanpora Sebdan, Budgam.

According to Budgam Police, the investigation conducted so far has established that no other individual was involved in the commission of the crime.

Police appealed to the public to maintain peace, communal harmony and public order, and cooperate with the investigating agencies. Citizens have also been advised not to take the law into their own hands or circulate rumours, speculative content or unverified allegations regarding the case, warning that any such act would invite strict legal action.

Budgam Police also urged media organisations and social media users to exercise responsibility and restraint while reporting or commenting on the matter, stating that circulation of unverified or misleading content could create unnecessary public anxiety and adversely affect law and order.

Police further reiterated that any attempt to spread misinformation, incite unrest or disturb public order through any platform would be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law.
