Srinagar, May 19: Bharti Airtel on Tuesday announced the launch of “Priority Postpaid”, a new service aimed at delivering improved and more consistent connectivity experience for postpaid users through 5G slicing technology.

The company said it has upgraded its 5G network infrastructure with advanced slicing capabilities to support the service, which is designed for customers who rely on uninterrupted connectivity for work, entertainment and online collaboration.

According to Airtel, the technology enables the network to segment capacity dynamically and allocate resources more efficiently, allowing postpaid customers to receive stable connectivity even during periods of high traffic demand.

The telecom operator said the launch marks the first deployment of slicing-based 5G services in India. Similar services have already been introduced in countries including the United States, Singapore, the United Kingdom and Malaysia over the past year.

In a statement issued during the launch, Shashwat Sharma said the initiative reflects the company’s focus on customer-centric innovation and network reliability.

“Our focus at Airtel is on delivering meaningful innovations that enhance our customers’ experience. Priority Postpaid is our latest innovation powered by the 5G slicing technology,” Sharma said. He added that the service is intended to provide dependable connectivity for activities such as client calls, video streaming and app-based services in crowded locations.

Airtel stated that the Priority service will be available to customers across all postpaid plans. Existing postpaid users will receive the feature automatically, while prepaid customers wishing to switch can do so through the Airtel Thanks app or by visiting Airtel retail stores.

The company also said the service will function on smartphones compatible with 5G Standalone (5G SA) technology and updated with the latest software versions. Customers awaiting software upgrades will be able to view pending actions in their device settings, while handset compatibility can also be checked through the Airtel app.

The launch comes as telecom operators continue expanding 5G services and exploring network optimisation technologies to manage increasing data consumption and connectivity demands.
