Sopore, May 13: A one-day career seminar aimed at guiding students towards the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the National Defence Academy (NDA) was held here on Wednesday, drawing a large number of participants from across Baramulla district.

The event was organised by the Career Defence School and led by founder and CEO Er Vinay Rai, along with administrative officer Er Gagan Wadhwa. Certified career coach Er Amir Suhail organised the programme, co-ordinated by Khan Jahangeer.

MLA Sopore Irshad Rasool Kar attended as chief guest, while Tehsildar Sopore Sheikh Tariq was guest of honour.

MLA Kar described the initiative as a “meaningful programme” that would help Valley students become aware of career opportunities and compete on national platforms.

Sheikh Tariq, in his address, stressed the need for dedication, hard work and moral values in student life.

Guest speaker Dr Shaheen Shouket Dar, an independent war and peace analyst, spoke on the importance of education, discipline and critical thinking. He urged students to stay away from negativity and channel their energy towards constructive goals.

Dr Abrar Bashir highlighted the growing importance of competitive education and advised students to build confidence, improve communication skills and remain consistent in their efforts.

Speaking to the media, Er Vinay Rai said students from Jammu and Kashmir possess “immense talent” and only require proper guidance, discipline and exposure. “Career Defence School is committed to preparing students for JEE Mains, NEET, RIMC and NDA while also focusing on personality development, leadership and nation-building,” he said.

A detailed question-and-answer session was held during which students raised queries on NDA eligibility, IIT entrance preparation, hostel facilities, scholarships, physical fitness and career planning.

The seminar, anchored by Syed Humaira, concluded with a vote of thanks by the organisers.
