IAF Maintenance Command, CAPSS Hold Aerospace Power Seminar in Nagpur

NAGPUR, May 13: The Headquarters Maintenance Command of the Indian Air Force, in collaboration with the Centre for Airpower and Strategic Studies (CAPSS), organised a one-day Joint Aerospace Power Seminar in Nagpur on May 11, 2026, focusing on maintenance efficiency and self-reliance in aerospace capability.

According to officials, the seminar was held on the theme “Efficient Maintenance and Atmanirbharta Enablers of Airpower” and brought together senior military leaders, domain experts and defence stakeholders to discuss operational readiness and indigenous capability development.

Air Marshal Yalla Umesh, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Maintenance Command, attended the event as chief guest. In his address, he underlined the importance of strong maintenance systems and indigenous development in sustaining airpower and strengthening national security.

He said achieving self-reliance in aerospace systems is essential for reducing dependency on external sources and ensuring operational effectiveness of the Indian Air Force.

The seminar included presentations and panel discussions on emerging maintenance practices, technological advancements, indigenisation efforts and policy frameworks related to aerospace capability development.

Officials said experts from the Indian Air Force and CAPSS exchanged views on aligning maintenance strategies with India’s broader defence production and self-reliance goals.

The event also served as a platform for coordination between strategic think tanks and operational military stakeholders, with emphasis on improving synergy in defence maintenance systems.

According to organisers, the seminar concluded with a shared commitment to strengthening collaboration between defence institutions and research bodies to support innovation in aerospace maintenance and capability enhancement. (PIB)
