Awantipora, May 05: Continuing its drive against illegal mining, Police in Awantipora conducted a successful late night raid at Larkipora.
During the intervening night, a joint team led by SDPO Awantipora raided the area and detected illegal sand extraction being carried out using a mechanized motor boat.
Acting promptly, the team apprehended one accused identified as Ab Rashid Dar son of Mohammad Jabbar Dar, resident of Larkipora Padgampora, who was found involved in the unlawful activity.
The mechanized motor boat used in the commission of the offence has been seized on the spot.
Accordingly a case FIR No 109/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Awantipora and further legal proceedings have been initiated.
Police have reiterated their commitment to strict action against illegal mining and urged the public to share information regarding such activities with the nearest police unit.
