Magistrate Directs One-Month Community Service for Alcohol-Linked Misconduct; Accused Convicted

Awantipora, May 05: The Hon’ble Court of Munsiff/Judicial Magistrate Pampore has convicted an accused under Section 355 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, in a case titled UT of J&K vs. Bilal Ahmad Gojri, and directed him to undergo community service for one month.

The case pertained to repeated instances of disorderly and violent behaviour by the accused under the influence of alcohol, causing disturbance in the local community.

Adopting a reformative approach, the Court directed the accused to perform community service by cleaning the Court premises at Pampore from April 27, 2026, to May 26, 2026, under supervision of the Bar president.

Non-compliance shall invite a default sentence of six days’ simple imprisonment.

The prosecuting officer effectively conducted the prosecution and assisted the Court by presenting the relevant facts and ensuring that the matter was adjudicated in accordance with law.

The order reflects a balanced approach aimed at ensuring accountability while promoting reformation and public discipline.
