Director Geology & Mining Inspects Khrew Mining Sites; Stresses Sustainable Practices

Pulwama, April 29: The Director of Geology and Mining, Jammu and Kashmir, conducted an extensive inspection of multiple mining sites in the Khrew area of Pulwama district to review ongoing operations and ensure compliance with regulations, officials said on Wednesday.
The inspection was carried out in the presence of the Joint Director Kashmir, Technical Officer to the Joint Director, District Mineral Officer (DMO) Pulwama, and other concerned officials.
During the visit, the Director emphasized that all mining activities must strictly adhere to the legal framework, with a strong focus on environmentally responsible and sustainable practices. He directed officials to maintain strict vigilance and reiterated the department’s zero-tolerance policy against illegal mining.
Officials on the spot checked several vehicles and machinery operating in the area. Penalties were imposed on those found violating prescribed norms, officials told Kashmir Convener.
The inspection is part of the department’s ongoing efforts to regulate mining activities and curb illegal practices in the region.
