Pampore, April 28: A tuberculosis (TB) screening camp was organised at HK Cement Factory in Khrew area of Pampore on Tuesday as part of the ongoing 100 Days TB Mukht Bharat Abhiyan Shivir 2.0, officials said.

The camp was conducted by Sub District Hospital Pampore with the objective of early detection and prevention of tuberculosis through active case finding. Workers at the factory were screened on the spot using a handheld X-ray device.

Officials said that, in addition to TB screening, general health check-ups were also carried out to assess the overall health status of the workers. Sputum samples were collected from individuals identified as presumptive TB cases for further diagnostic testing.

The initiative is part of intensified efforts under the campaign, which focuses on screening high-risk populations, including industrial workers, through workplace-based interventions. Health authorities said the approach is aimed at improving access to diagnostic services and ensuring timely initiation of treatment.

Officials added that early diagnosis and prompt treatment are key to reducing transmission and achieving the goal of tuberculosis elimination.

The camp witnessed active participation from factory workers, who availed screening and health services at the site. Participants appreciated the initiative for bringing healthcare services directly to the workplace.
