Authorities in Pulwama Crack Down on Illegal Mining; 26 Vehicles Seized, ₹18.9 Lakh Penalties Recovered

Pulwama, April 27: The Geology and Mining Department, Pulwama, under the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, has intensified its enforcement drive against illegal mining across the district. During fresh inspections, the department seized three vehicles and three illegal mineral dumps.

The drive forms part of an ongoing campaign to curb the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.

Over the past 24 days, authorities have seized more than 26 vehicles and 64 illegal mineral dumps. Additionally, penalties amounting to Rs. 18.90 lakh have been realised from violators.

The department stated that the enforcement drive will be further intensified, particularly during night hours, with increased surprise inspections and naka checks. Transporters, crusher owners, and contractors have been urged to strictly adhere to legal norms. “Any deviation will attract strict legal action under the relevant mining laws”, cautioned the authorities.
