PAMPORE, April 18: The 185 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Saturday organised a free medical camp in the far-flung Shar Shali area of Pampore tehsil in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, benefiting around 200 patients.

The camp, held under the Civic Action Programme at Panchayat Ghar Kharcheck, witnessed a large turnout of local residents who availed free medical check-ups and medicines provided by a team of doctors.

Officials said that nearly 200 people were examined during the camp, and a significant quantity of free medicines was distributed among the beneficiaries.

The camp was jointly inaugurated by the Commandant of 185 Bn CRPF Hemat, Second-in-Commandant Vinod Kumar Tandon, Assistant Commandant Mukesh Kumar, along with senior officers of the battalion, Gujjar and Bakerwal Community General Secretary Choudhary Mohammad Yaseen Poswal, and other local dignitaries.

Locals appreciated the initiative and lauded the CRPF for reaching out to remote areas where access to healthcare facilities remains limited.

Officials stated that such initiatives aim to extend basic healthcare services to far-flung Gujjar Basti areas where residents often face difficulties in accessing medical facilities provided by the local administration.

Speaking to Kashmir Convener, Second-in-Commandant Dr Vinod Kumar Tandon said the camp was organised in Kharcheck Gujjar Basti as hospitals in Khrew and Pampore are located at a considerable distance for local residents. He said the CRPF not only provided treatment and medicines but also shared contact numbers to ensure continued medical assistance whenever needed.

Talking  to Kashmir Convener, Choudhary Mohammad Yaseen Poswal termed the initiative a commendable step, saying such medical camps are highly beneficial for people living in remote areas. He expressed gratitude to the 185 Battalion CRPF and urged that similar camps be organised in other far-flung areas across the Union Territory.
