Two Held with Charas in Pulwama’s Newa Area

Pulwama, April 14; Police on Tuesday arrested two persons, including a woman, and seized charas during a raid in the Newa area of Pulwama district, officials said.
According to police, the कार्रवाई was carried out by a team from Police Post (PP) Newa following specific information about alleged drug-related activity. The team conducted a search at the residence of Mohd Younis Sheikh in Newa.
During the search, police recovered approximately 110 grams of charas in powder form and 850 grams of charas (bang/boosa), which were seized on the spot.
The accused were identified as Younis Ahmad Sheikh and Mahjabeena Akhter, both residents of Newa. They were taken into custody during the operation.
Police said a case has been registered under FIR No. 53/2026 at Police Station Pulwama under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigation is underway.
Officials said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking in the district.
Police have urged the public to share information related to drug-related activities to assist in enforcement efforts.
