Road Safety Awareness Seminar Held at HSS Mantrigam in Bandipora

Bandipora, March 25:
 A zonal-level seminar on road safety awareness was held at Higher Secondary School (HSS) Mantrigam in Quilmuqam zone of Bandipora district, aimed at educating students and the public about traffic rules and safe road practices.

The programme was organised under the supervision of Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Quilmuqam, Abdul Rahman Mir, and witnessed participation from students representing various schools across the zone.

During the seminar, speakers highlighted key aspects of road safety, including the use of helmets and seat belts, adherence to traffic signals, risks associated with over-speeding, and the importance of responsible behaviour on roads.

Students actively participated in the event by presenting their views and suggestions through speeches and discussions. Officials said the activity was intended to encourage awareness and understanding of road safety measures among young participants.

A panel of jury members evaluated the presentations based on content, clarity and delivery. Participants were felicitated at the end of the programme, with top performers receiving mementos.

Principal HSS Mantrigam, Mohammad Iqbal Magrey, and ZEO Quilmuqam Abdul Rahman Mir addressed the gathering and emphasised the importance of collective responsibility in ensuring road safety. They said awareness and adherence to traffic rules are essential to reduce road accidents.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Zonal Cultural Coordinator Quilmuqam, Bashir Ahmad. Proceedings of the seminar were conducted by teacher Kufail Ahmad Wani.

Officials said such awareness programmes are aimed at promoting safe practices and encouraging students to act as responsible citizens.
