New Delhi, Feb 6: Vice Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Pushpendra Singh has awarded a Unit Citation to the Intelligence and Field Security Unit (IFSU) for exemplary service and acts of bravery along the India-China border in Eastern Ladakh, recognising its sustained performance in one of the most sensitive sectors along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

The citation was conferred on the occasion of Army Day at an award ceremony held on February 5, where Lt Gen Singh presented the honour to the Commanding Officer of the IFSU, Colonel Jitendra Singh, and Subedar Major Mandeep Singh. The unit was cited for outstanding operational efficiency, devotion to duty and courage displayed under demanding conditions.
According to Army officials, the IFSU has been deployed in Eastern Ladakh for the past two years, operating in high-altitude and hostile terrain marked by extreme weather and constant operational pressure. During this period, the unit has played a crucial role in maintaining round-the-clock vigilance, gathering field intelligence and ensuring security along the strategically important frontier.
The citation specifically acknowledges the discipline and bravery shown by personnel while carrying out sensitive tasks in challenging conditions, noting that their efforts have made a significant contribution to safeguarding national security and maintaining stability in the border region.
The IFSU was among six Indian Army units that received Unit Citations from the Vice Chief of Army Staff on Army Day. Unit Citations are among the highest collective honours in the Army and are awarded to formations and units that demonstrate exceptional dedication, professionalism and operational excellence.
