Mohammad Shafi Bhat, noted political activist and close associate of Abdul Gani Lone, passes away

Bandipora, Feb 02: Mohammad Shafi Bhat, a known political activist from Plan Bandipora, passed away on Monday after a brief illness, family sources said.

Bhat was a long-time associate of the late Abdul Gani Lone and was widely recognised for his service to the community through his work as a teachers and later a petition writer in local courts.

He was a close associate of Abdul Gani Lone and has actively been associated with Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference since many decades. Known for his humility, integrity and dedication, he was respected for guiding and assisting people with patience and compassion.

The Namaz-e-Janaza was offered at 11:00 a.m., led by Imam-e-Hai Bandipora, Moulana Khursheed Anwar Naqshbandi. A large number of people from all walks of life attended the funeral prayers, paying their respects to the deceased.

Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference (JKPC) chief Sajad Lone expressed grief over Bhat’s demise in a tweet, describing him as a close associate of both his father and himself. He recalled sharing “some of my best times and memories” with Bhat and prayed for his soul, saying, “May Allah grant him Jannatul Firdaus and give patience and strength to the entire family. Ameen.”

Family members and local residents remembered Bhat for his moral uprightness, gentle demeanor, and contributions to the welfare of the community, which left an indelible impression on those who knew him.
