Pak troops fire in air along LoC in Keran, Indian Army responds

Kupwara, Jan 21: A brief exchange of fire was reported along the Line of Control in the Keran sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Tuesday evening, officials said.According to officials, personnel of 06 Rashtriya Rifles were installing surveillance cameras along the Line of Control near village Bala Keran, falling under Police Station Keran, at around 5 pm today. During the activity, Pakistan Army troops fired two rounds in the air from across the Line of Control.

In response, the Indian Army personnel fired one round in the air as a precautionary measure, officials said.

No casualties or damage were reported from either side during the incident. Officials said the situation along the Line of Control in the area remained under control following the brief exchange.

Security agencies are maintaining close surveillance in the sector, officials added. [KNT]
